Cycling base layers are the most underrated layer of technical kit. Yet they're the base that determines your comfort, thermal regulation and performance on the bike.

At Mooquer we develop technical base layers designed to act as a second skin: they manage moisture, push sweat to the outside and stabilise body temperature in winter and in the variable conditions of mid-season or high intensity.

Our collection includes light models for summer, thermal versions for winter and technical options made for road, gravel and MTB. All are made with highly breathable fabrics, ergonomic patterning and a close fit that avoids creases under the jersey.

Not just another garment. It's the first layer that defines your ride.

The base layer is the invisible garment that most changes comfort on the bike. It sits against the skin, under the jersey, and its job is one: to separate sweat from the body and move it to the jersey so the skin stays dry and at a stable temperature.

What the base layer really does

Without a base layer, sweat stays between the skin and the jersey, and as soon as you ease off or take a descent, that moisture chills you suddenly. The technical base layer wicks that sweat away and creates a chamber that regulates temperature. In winter it keeps you warm, and in summer, counterintuitive as it sounds, it cools you, because it keeps the skin dry.

Summer or winter base layer

The summer one is a very fine or mesh fabric, almost imperceptible, just to manage sweat. The winter one adds thermal capacity to hold the heat. The logic is the same; the weight changes with the season.
